Newsletter: October 6

October 6, 2019

Dear James Hill Families,

The school has been busy these past two weeks! On Monday, September 30, our school had an assembly and Forest Walk for Orange Shirt Day.  Each student crafted a heart and planted it in the forest to acknowledge and remember that Every Child Matters.

We also hosted our annual Terry Fox Run last Thursday. We thank the parent volunteers who helped along the route to ensure students were safe along the way. Luckily the rain held out and it was a great run for everyone! That same day, our PAC put on a fabulous Welcome Back BBQ/Meet the Teacher night. Thank you to all who came out to this community evening. It was nice to see so many smiling faces and for the students to introduce parents/guardians to their teachers.

Our Cross Country team has been practicing and racing several times each week this Fall. We are proud of their hard work and commitment and for representing James Hill Elementary so well in the district races! Thank you to Mrs. Vleeming and Ms. Koop for your leadership with the Cross Country Team!

Dressing for the Weather:

Just a reminder that days are getting chilly and wet with Fall’s arrival. At James Hill we like to be outside as much as possible, including days with light rain. Please ensure that you dress your child in good outdoor footwear and a warm jacket. An extra set of clothes is also handy to have in their backpacks (particularly for primary students).
