Newsletter and the Week Ahead- Oct. 5

October 4, 2018

Dear James Hill Families,

Our students had a fun-filled week as we get ready for the long Thanksgiving weekend ahead. There were lots of incredible class activities, including Thanksgiving crafts, Fall artwork, Turkey poems and songs and even baking Cranberry Bread! We had several classes visit the Apple Barn on Thursday as well!

Our Garden Towers are now hosting some tiny plants. It is exciting to see the students learn about the seedlings and to plant them in our towers. The UV lights are now on and the water system is running. Next time you are in the school, you should check out our newly planted veggies!

This week we had a meeting with all of our grade fours and fives to think up leadership opportunities for our students, such as Playground Pals, PA announcers, Sunshine Committee, Assembly Greeters and many more! Ask your child which leadership teams were most interesting to them. Teachers and staff will be creating groups for various leadership opportunities sometime next week. We are excited to see student leaders in action in the upcoming months!

Thank you to our parent helpers that worked hard to run the Entertainment Book Fundraiser. We appreciate all of the students who worked hard to sell books… the proceeds from these sales really help our PAC raise money to support our school and our students

Marvelous Mornings Start Tuesday!

Our amazing staff has come up with some Marvelous Mornings for kids to get together and get their minds ready for learning! You can join us each morning in the Learning Commons (library) starting after 8:15 am (please do not arrive earlier as there is no supervision)! This is a terrific opportunity to create, design, think, connect and have fun!
